Neil Clark (Coquitlam, B.C.), a left winger with mens ice hockey, was selected as the male Valiant of the Week (VOW) for the week of October 4-8.
The 23-year-old transferred to Manhattanville from Iona College last year and is majoring in Finance. After he graduates in May of 2006, Neil wants to get involved with portfolio management at a firm in New York City. At some point, the junior would like to open a fishing lodge, which would offer a break from the fast paced demands of contemporary society.
Neil was chosen as VOW because of his intensity, persistence, and attention to detail. Every time he comes to a workout, the forward performs nearly every single lift flawlessly. He realizes that movement mechanics take priority over mass lifted.
What distinguishes Neil from other athletes at the College is his commitment to his training. He realizes that physical conditioning separates two teams of equal skill. If Neil is unable to attend a scheduled training session due academic / athletic conflicts, he comes in on his own and makes up what he missed.
The best thing about this years team, commented Neil, is our work ethic. If Neil is a reflection of his team, the Valiants can expect a very successful season.
