Fiorito Named to MAC All-Century Baseball Squad

ANNVILLE, Pa. – As part of its year-long MAC 100 celebration, the Middle Atlantic Conference continued celebrating its centennial with the announcement of the spring MAC 100 All-Century Teams this week. Former Valiant great Dan Fiorito (Yonkers, N.Y./Fordham Prep) '12 was named to the All-Century Baseball Team for the 2004-12 era, according to an announcement released Monday afternoon by the conference office.

One of the most prolific players in any sport at Manhattanville, Fiorito arguably racked up more on-field accolades than any male student-athlete ever at the school. He was named the baseball program's first All-American as a sophomore with an honorable mention spot on the D3baseball.com squad, and became the Manhattanville male to earn multiple All-America selections with a spot on the ABCA All-America third team in 2012. His senior year was filled with more accolades as well: he was a consensus All-Region pick by the ABCA, NCBWA and D3baseball.com; he was named the NCBWA Mid-Atlantic Region Player of the Year and an ECAC South Region All-Star; and he also earned Manhattanville's Co-Male Athlete of the Year honors. In addition, Fiorito was named a first-team All-Freedom Conference selection in all three seasons and was also tabbed as the conference Player of the Year as a senior in 2012.

As a senior, Fiorito hit .411 with 12 home runs, 36 runs batted in, 51 runs scored and 21 stolen bases. The shortstop finished in the top-five in the Freedom Conference in most offensive categories, including first in home runs, runs scored and slugging percentage (.760); second in stolen bases, total bases (111) and on-base percentage (.488); and fifth in batting average. In addition to setting new school single-season records for homers and total bases, he also ranked highly on a national level as well, sitting sixth in Division III in homers, seventh in homers per game, eighth in runs per game and 11th in slugging percentage.

Despite playing just three seasons for the Valiants, Fiorito put his name all over the Manhattanville career record books. He currently sits third all-time at the school in home runs (21) and fourth in slugging percentage (.648), while also placing sixth in runs scored (116) and total bases (258), seventh in batting average (.397) and runs batted in (108), ninth in on-base percentage (.474) and 10th in hits (158).

And to top all that off, Fiorito was signed as an undrafted free agent by the New York Yankees in August 2012, the second Valiant in team history to sign a professional deal. In his first season as a pro, Fiorito has played in 32 games with the Class A Tampa Yankees so far this season and is hitting .261 with 30 hits and 15 runs scored in 115 at-bats.

Manhattanville has been a member of the Middle Atlantic Conference since the start of the 2007-08 school year, and despite only being a member for the last six years, Fiorito was named to the historic team that features members from many generations of MAC baseball, with the voting broken up into different eras based on conference membership and sport sponsorship. In order to qualify for the teams, student-athletes were required to be an All-Conference first-team selection at least once.

As a part of the MAC 100 celebration, the Middle Atlantic Conference is recognizing top athletes from conference history, naming student-athletes to All-Century Teams in each sport from each era. The teams were selected from an online fan vote combined with votes from MAC Sports Information Directors.
