Chris Alesi was hired as the seventh Manhattanville College men's basketball coach in program history in August 2019. He completed his fifth full season at the helm of the Valiants in 2024-25.

Alesi became the fifth coach in program history to reach 100 games coached in the 2023-24 season as he led the Valiants to an 18-10 campaign. Manhattanville made a third-straight appearance in the Skyline Conference Championship Tournament, defeating the United States Merchant Marine Academy 73-60 in the tournament's quarterfinals to advance to the semifinals for a third consecutive year. The Valiants would also return to the ECAC Tournament for a third-straight season as a No. 6 seed, battling to the wire against No. 3 Alvernia. Tommy Lotito capped off his collegiate career by being named to the Skyline First-Team for the second year in a row while also being honored as a D3Hoops.com All-Region and MBWA All-Met selection.

The 2022-23 campaign was Alesi's finest leading the Valiants as the team went 21-8, the first 20 win season by the team since 2006-07. Manhattanville made a run to their second-straight Skyline Conference Championship game as the team secured the No. 2 seed by winning the Skyline's North Division regular season crown. The Valiants knocked off Mount Saint Vincent and the two-time defending champions Yeshiva in their postseason run. While their title run fell just short, Manhattanville earned another invite to the ECAC DIII Championship Tournament, sporting a No. 5 seed for the bracket. Senior Tommy Lotito cleaned up postseason accolades, becoming the program's third-ever Conference Player of the Year while also making the Skyline First Team, NABC All-District First Team, D3hoops.com All-Region First Team, and MBWA All-Met First Team.

After the Covid-19 pandemic ended the 2020-21 campaign after two games, Alesi led the Valiants to their winningest season since 2008-09, as Manhattanville went 17-10 overall. Manhattanville would advance all the way to the Skyline Conference Championship finals as the No. 4 seed, defeating Saint Joseph's-Long Island and No. 1 seed Farmingdale State before falling to Yeshiva in the title game. It was the Valiants' first time reaching a conference championship game since the aforementioned 2008-09 campaign and the first time Manhattanville competed for a Skyline title since 2006-07. The Valiants would receive an invitation to the ECAC DIII Championship Tournament, in which Manhattanville donned the No. 6 seed. Lotito became the third Valiant to earn All-Conference recognition under Alesi's tenure, being named to the All-Conference First Team after leading the Valiants with 11.8 points per contest.

In his first season on the bench in Purchase, Alesi guided his squad to a 16-10 overall mark, including an 11-5 record in Skyline Conference play. It was the first time the Valiants have finished above .500 since 2015-16. Additionally, Manhattanville clinched the second spot in the north division standings of the Skyline en route to the program's first conference tournament berth since 2013-14. Lastly, the 16 wins amassed by the Valiants are the most since the 2008-09 campaign when the squad finished as the MAC Freedom runner-up. Individually, Alesi helped guide JoJo Cobbs ('20) to his first-career all-conference season (second team all-Skyline), as well as becoming the 27th member of the program's 1,000-point scorers club. Under his watch, co-captain Mike Granda ('21) also set the program's single-season mark in made three-pointers (86).

A former collegiate player at both the Division II (Queens College) and Division III (Baruch College) levels, Alesi possesses a rich coaching background throughout the New York area AAU programs. Most recently, he served as head coach of the New Jersey Shoreshots AAU 16U program and assistant coach of the 17U program. Prior to that, he spent 2015-18 at the helm of the New York Renaissance AAU 16U and 17U teams. Before the NY Rens, Alesi served as the head coach of three separate New Heights Youth AAU programs – 16U from 2013-14, 15U from 2012-13 and 14U from 2011-12. From 2008-11 as well as in 2018, he served as the head coach for the Brooklyn Clippers AAU 17U squad.

Outside of AAU, Alesi was also the assistant varsity basketball coach at his alma mater, Xaverian High School from 2006-16 and the head freshmen coach from 2008-11. He was also a standout during his time at Xaverian as a player and is a member of their athletic hall of fame.

A graduate of Baruch College, Alesi currently resides in and is a native of Staten Island, N.Y.
