Inclusion Statement

The Manhattanville University Department of Athletics strives to promote collaboration among staff and student-athletes without regard to race, sexual orientation and religion. Manhattanville promotes a safe and welcoming environment for all our student-athletes, and that is what enables our Valiants to reach their full potential and excel in the classroom, on the field of play, and as people.

On and off the fields of play, Manhattanville University student-athletes are expected to maintain the highest levels of sportsmanship in all aspects, as are game-day officials and staff as well as spectators. If a student-athlete or coach is aware of discriminatory or harassing behavior from teammates, opposing teams, spectators or officials, a student-athlete is encouraged to talk to his or her head coach, who will talk to the opposing coach and contact the appropriate athletics administrator.

In 2014, Manhattanville Athletics partnered with the You Can Play project to produce a video featuring Valiant student-athletes, staff and administators that emphasized Manhattanville's committment to inclusion and support among our student-athletes and staff. The video can be seen at http://www.govaliants.com/youcanplay.

Manhattanville was founded in 1841 as a Catholic college for women, and while it has been co-educational and non-denominational since 1971, the College remains committed to our rich tradition as a values-centered liberal arts college.
