With nearly a decade of coaching experience behind him, Andre Pennicooke M.S. '20 completed his second season as an assistant coach with the Manhattanville men's basketball program in 2019-20.
In his two seasons on the Valiant bench, Pennicooke assisted in guiding his squads to a 27-24 record and a conference tournament berth -- the program's first since 2013-14. The 2019-20 season saw Pennicooke help the Valiants to 16 victories, their most since 2008-09.
Individually, he helped guide 1,000-point scorer JoJo Cobbs ('20) to second team All-Skyline Conference honors in 2019-20. Additionally, he helped oversee the record-setting season in 2018-19 by Sean Smith, Jr. ('21), who became just the second Conference Player of the Year in program history. With Pennicooke's guidance, Smith also garnered first team regional accolades from D3hoops.com and the MBWA, as well as second team accolades from the NABC.
Pennicooke came to Manhattanville from Sacred Heart High School in Yonkers, where he's served as head coach of the school's junior varsity team and associate head coach of the varsity team since 2014. Pennicooke helped the varsity team appear in back-to-back New York Catholic High School Athletic Association (NYCHSAA) championship games in 2016 and 2017.
Pennicooke also served as a director and head coach for the Minutemen Athletic Club since 2012, and was head coach of the Iona College club team from 2011-2017.
A Bronx native, Pennicooke graduated from Iona College with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing and completed his Master's Degree in Sports Business Management at Manhattanville in 2020.
