Valiant Volleyball Succumbs to DeSales in Straight Sets

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. –
DeSales University junior Lauren Hickey had a match-high 10 kills and senior Kylie Fehnel added nine of her own as the Bulldogs defeated Manhattanville, 3-0 (25-12, 25-11, 25-10), in a Freedom Conference women's volleyball matchup on Tuesday night at Billera Hall.

 

Led by Hickey and Fehnel, DeSales had an efficient night against Manhattanville, recording 36 kills and hitting .301 as a team in moving to 3-3 in conference play. The home team had at least eight kills in each set, led by a first set in which the Bulldogs recorded 16 points via kill and hit .357 as a team.

 

In addition to her nine kills, Fehnel also added four service aces and four blocks to lead all players.

 

On the Valiant side, junior Damaris Morales (Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic) led the team with seven kills, which accounted for half of the team's kill total on the night. Defensively, classmate Makana Gomes (Honolulu, Hawaii) and freshman Jocelyn Branca (Eastchester, N.Y.) also tied the team lead with nine digs apiece.

 

Manhattanville (7-14, 0-6 Freedom) will return to action in less than 24 hours, as the Valiants return home to host Brooklyn College at Kennedy Gym tomorrow at 7 p.m. Fans can watch the action live online at GoValiants.TV starting at 6:55 p.m. DeSales (12-13, 3-3 Freedom) gets back on the court Thursday at 7 p.m. against Albright College.
