MAHWAH, N.J.
– Alexa Ryan led all scorers with 26 points on 9-of-20 from the field as the Ramapo College Roadrunners defeated the Manhattanville Valiants in a non-conference women's basketball match-up on Monday evening at the Bradley Center.

Three Roadrunners finished in double figures, as Faith Flannery finished with 13 points and Lindsay Gripenburg finished with 11 points complementing the 26 points from Ryan. On the other side, two Valiants finished in double figures as sophomore Taylor Wilson (Pearl River, N.Y.) led the visiting team with 18 points, while junior Courtney Turner (Staten Island, N.Y.) had 10 points and nine rebounds.

The Valiants struggled late in the contest after leading by three points (49-46) with 9:02 remaining. Ramapo used a 3-2 zone to pressure the Valiant offense late in the contest and went on a 12-5 run to finish the game.  Manhattanville missed their last six field goals in the contest and had the opportunity to make it a one-possession game after back-to-back turnovers in the defensive zone by the Roadrunners.

Both teams traded baskets to begin the contest and the Valiants took a four-point lead 14-10 with 10:42 left in the half with a jumper by Wilson. Ramapo took the lead for the remainder of the half and took their largest lead of nine points (31-23) after a three-point completion play by Flannery with 1:27 left.  Wilson led the Valiants with nine points and Ryan led Ramapo with 14 points at the half as the home team held a 32-26 edge at intermission.

Ramapo continued to pressure the Valiants in the opening minutes of the second half, but two baskets from Turner and a three pointer from Wilson cut the deficit to three points. Manhattanville continued their mini 9-3 with a jumper by senior Kaitlin Degnan (Irvington, N.Y.) to make it a one-point game, 37-36, at the 16:16 mark. The Roadrunners held a single digit lead until sophomore Janetta Arnold (Windsor, Conn.) gave the Valiants a 45-44 lead with 12:04 left. Manhattanville was unable to take more than single-possession lead and led by just three points before the Roadrunners took the lead for the final time.

Manhattanville finished the contest shooting 37 percent from the field, 20 percent from the outside and 50 percent from the line. Ramapo shot well from the field, finishing at 46 percent, and 60% from the charity stripe; however, the Valiants outrebounded the Roadrunners 39-34 and were a force in the paint.

Manhattanville (2-3) will begin Freedom Conference play on Wednesday evening at 6 p.m. as they host DeSales in the rematch of last two Freedom Conference Championship games. The game will be video streamed live online at GoValiants.TV starting at 5:45 p.m. Ramapo (5-0) will host Rowan College on Saturday at 1 p.m.
