MADISON, N.J. –
Drew University scored twice in the first four minutes and added two more over the next 12 minutes to gain an early advantage and never look back in a 6-0 victory over the Manhattanville women's soccer team in a non-conference contest on Tuesday night at Ranger Stadium.

The Valiants were essentially done in by two players on Tuesday, as Emily Weida had three goals for the Rangers while Caroline Kuras added a pair for the home team. Christine Meconi also scored for Drew as well in the win.

With Manhattanville still looking for its first victory of the season, the home team squashed that idea very early by scoring on its first two shots and also finding the back of the net on its next two shots on goal as well.

Meconi opened the scoring at the 2:27 mark by picking the far side of the netting from the right side of the field, followed less than a minute later by Kuras scoring her first of the night at 3:23. After a pair of shots wide of the Valiant net, Weida potted a pair just over three minutes apart to give the Rangers a commanding 4-0 lead 15:11 into the match.

Weida completed her hat trick with 14:48 remaining in the opening half, knocking a cross from Meconi into the back of the net.

Manhattanville easily had the most offensive chances of the season against the Rangers, as the Valiants fired 13 shots toward the Drew net and required Ranger keeper Jeramie Barletta to make four saves. However, Drew still won the shot battle with 23 attempts, with freshman netminder Bridget Miranda (Binghamton, N.Y./Seton Catholic Central) turning aside seven of the 13 shots on goal.

Manhattanville (0-8-0) will return home for the first of three straight games at GoValiants.com Field on Friday night, as the Valiants host NYU under the lights beginning at 7 p.m. The game will be video streamed live on GoValiants.TV beginning at 6:50 p.m. Drew (2-5-0) will host Susquehanna on Saturday afternoon starting at 3:30 p.m.
