Women's Soccer Suffers Tough 2-0 Setback at FDU-Florham

Box Score MADISON, N.J. – The Manhattanville women's soccer team made their run to the postseason a little bit tougher on Wednesday night, as the Valiants dropped a 2-0 decision to FDU-Florham in a Freedom Conference matchup at Shields Field.
 
Manhattanville (5-7, 1-2 Freedom) falls into a four-way tie for fourth place in the conference standings with three matches to go, along with FDU-Florham (4-10, 1-2 Freedom), DeSales and King's (Pa.).
 
The Devils posted a 17-7 edge in total shots according to the final statistics, although the Valiants led the corner-kick battle by a slim 5-4 margin. Freshman Grace Kraemer (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) made four saves but suffered the loss, while FDU's Anna Bandly made three saves and picked up the victory.
 
FDU-Florham had a 7-2 edge on the shot chart in the opening 45 minutes, and used their only two shots on goal of the half to score twice just over five minutes apart. Jennifer DiGioia opened the scoring in the 29th minute, taking a pass from Claire Donahue and beating Kraemer for the score. Just over five minutes later, Nicole Kauffman struck from 20 yards out at the 33:17 mark to double the Devil lead headed into the half.
 
Kraemer kept FDU off the scoreboard in the second half by stopping all four shots on goal she faced, but both Manhattanville on-goal attempts were denied by Bandly The Devils posted a 10-5 edge in shots in the second half.
 
Manhattanville will continue Freedom Conference play on Saturday, as the Valiants host Delaware Valley at GoValiants.com Field beginning at approximately 1:30 p.m. The game will be video streamed on GoValiants.TV beginning at 1:20 p.m.
