Box Score PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Manhattanville women's soccer team closed out its 2012 season on Saturday, as the Valiants fell to Misericordia, ranked 15th in the latest NSCAA/Continental Tire Division III National Poll, by a 5-0 score in a Freedom Conference matchup on Senior Day at GoValiants.com Field.
Going up against the highest-scoring team in the conference, the Valiants had their backs against the wall almost all afternoon long versus the Cougars, who ended the day with a 24-6 edge in total shots. Sam Helmstetter had two goals to lead the Cougars, while Erin McGreal, Meghan Antrim and Emily Esposito also scored the visitors in the win.
Freshman
Grace Kraemer (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) did all she could in goal for the Valiants, making five saves on 10 shots on goal, while Maureen Ciccosanti had four saves in 76 minutes to earn the win for Misericordia.
The Valiants celebrated their three senior players prior to the start of the contest, as
Kirstin Hallett (Rocky Hill, Conn./Rocky Hill),
Morgan Rebollal (Holtsville, N.Y./Sachem East) and
Brittney Smith (Stratford, Conn./Bunnell) finished their four-year careers on Saturday.
Manhattanville finishes its 2012 season with a 6-11 record, including a 2-5 record in the Freedom Conference.
