The game started off in favor of the home team as Manhattanville got on the board quickly with a strike from the center of the box off the foot of senior Eros Olazabal (Milton, Ontario/Bishop Reding) after receiving a pass from Moshee Kelyana (Scarborough, Ontario/Brebeuf College) to put the Valiants up 1-0 just 3:26 into the contest.

Just under 90 seconds into the second half, FDU-Florham evened up the game as Ryan Hurdes, who had come on in relief during the first half netted a goal off of a corner kick to tie the game at one.

FDU-Florham continued to control a lot of the play in the second half despite getting out shot in the second half by Manhattanville. The Devils had another opportunity in the 86th minute as it was Hurdes once again to send the ball to the back of the net and put FDU-Florham up for good at 2-1.

Manhattanville had two chances within the last three minutes to even up the game, but a pair of freshman pushed their shots wide of the target. Freshman defender Kevin O'Reilly (Stamford, Conn./Trinity Catholic) sent the first shot well over the crossbar, followed by a header from goalkeeper Steve Singson (Deer Park, N.Y./St. Anthony's), who came up to the offensive zone in the final 30 seconds and sent his shot just left of the post.

Final statistics on the game were in favor of Manhattanville as they outshot its opponent 18-6, while taking three more corner kicks than FDU-Florham at a 5-2 margin.
