At the 8:05 mark of the second the Valiants took their first lead of the game as Keane picked up her first goal of the season with helpers coming from sophomore
Alla Traun (Edina, Minn./Minnesota Thoroughbreds (JWHL)) and fellow senior
Erin Sidjak (Delta, British Columbia/Pacific Steelers (JWHL)).

Mary Evans (Ferndale, Mich./Honeybaked (TOEHL)) to tie the game at two apiece.
With the full swing of momentum back in their favor the Hawks went on to outshoot Manhattanville 11-2 down the remainder of regulation, including one shot on a late power play chance. As the game remained in a deadlock the final horn sounded and sent the game to overtime.
In the extra session Manhattanville made some adjustments and controlled the early portion of the period as Traun, junior
Caitlyn Beauvais (Port Coquitlam, British Columbia/Pacific Steelers (JWHL)), and seniors
Lynsey Schill (Waterloo, Ontario/Kitchener Rangers (PWHL)) and
Mary Rose Morrison (Ridgefield, Conn./Connecticut Stars (MFYHL)) collected shots for the Valiants, all with no success. St. Anselm had two shots of its own during the final 1:22 of the overtime period with one shot blocked in front by Sidjak and the other stopped by Evans in goal. The period ended and the Valiants and Hawks settled for the 2-2 tie.
Final shots were in favor of St. Anselm at 29-17 for the 65 minutes of play, while power play chances were also in favor of the Hawks as they converted on one of their five chances. Manhattanville's power play was held off the board in their three chances.
In goal, Evans earned her first tie of the season as she moved to 1-2-1 on the 2012 season as she made 27 saves and allowed the two St. Anselm goals on the afternoon. In goal for the Hawks was Lindsay Brown, who made 15 saves of her own as she too allowed two goals for the contest.
