Box Score NEWBURGH, N.Y. – It was a second straight tough night for the Manhattanville women's volleyball team on Wednesday evening, as a hot Mount Saint Mary squad hit .263 as a team and limited the Valiants to 15 kills as the Knights swept to a 3-0 (25-8, 25-17, 25-17) victory at the Kaplan Center.
The Knights' Mary Ann Raftery single-handedly carried her team to a victory on Wednesday, as her 18 kills were more than the entire Valiant side. She also finished with 13 digs and a .342 hitting percentage on the night. Natalie Candarelli added nine kills for Mount Saint Mary as well.
Manhattanville's leader on attack was once again junior
Susy Camaj (Lagrangeville, N.Y./Millbrook), who led the team in kills for the 13th time in 14 matches this year with seven to go with 11 digs. Freshman
Patricia Alfonso (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico/Colegio Puertoriqueno de Ninas) followed with five kills and eight digs. Sophomore
Alyssa Casino (Rye Brook, N.Y./Maria Regina) led all players with a match-high 15 digs.
Manhattanville (6-8) will take a few days off before returning home to host the second and final Valiant Tri-Match of the season, as the Valiants welcome William Paterson and Sarah Lawrence to Kennedy Gym for three contests. The first match of the day pits the Valiants and Pioneers beginning at 11 a.m.
