Box Score FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – Farmingdale State forward Christina Merrill scored twice and also added an assist on her team's third goal to lead the host Rams to a 3-0 victory over Manhattanville in a non-conference women's soccer matchup on Saturday afternoon at Rams Field.

Merrill had a big day for the hosts with her two goals and an assist. Her pass to Theresa Martorano got the scoring started in the 16th minute of play, giving the Rams an early lead. She scored her first tally at the 34:07 mark of the opening half, taking a feed from Corine Magee and beating Valiant freshman keeper Grace Kraemer (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) for the score. Farmingdale State went into the break with that two-goal lead as well as a 6-2 edge in total shots.

Merrill capped the scoring less than seven minutes into the second half, scoring her second off a pass from Melissa Lijo. The Rams boasted a 5-1 edge in shots and a 4-0 advantage in corner kicks in the final 45 minutes of play, never allowing Manhattanville a chance to get back in the contest.

For the match, Farmingdale State outshot Manhattanville by an 11-3 margin. Kraemer made two saves and allowed two goals in the first 60:50 of action, before sophomore Aubrey Bachand (Harwichport, Mass./Vermont Academy) came on to close out the game, allowing one goal and turning aside a pair of shots. The Rams' Breanna Blair earned the win as she was forced to make just one save for the shutout.

Manhattanville (3-5) will return home for its next two matches, beginning on Wednesday with a 4 p.m. match against SUNY Old Westbury. GoValiants.TV will have the live video stream from GoValiants.com Field beginning at 3:50 p.m.
