The goaltenders for each team were stellar in net. Sophomore goalkeeper
Steve Singson (Deer Park, N.Y./St. Anthony's) of the Valiants contributed two saves on 18 shots from the Eagles, while Eagles freshman goalkeeper Joe Centeno was the difference maker for Eastern.
Centeno made two crucial saves in the final minutes of regulation, helping give his team an opportunity to pull through in overtime. Freshman
Jamie Macchia (Massapequa Park, N.Y./Massapequa) connected with a header in the 87th minute that was denied by a diving effort from Centeno. Seconds later, Centeno made another diving save off a blast from sophomore

Eastern led the shot differential by a total of 18-8, but neither team was able to finish one of those shots for a goal.
Manhattanville head coach
Gregg Miller was content with the overall play from his team, despite settling with a draw. "Obviously we would have preferred to win the game, but I was pleased with the battling qualities that we showed," said Miller. "We did some things today that are necessary elements of playing the game at this level, which was pleasing."
Miller and the Valiants came in knowing that Eastern was one of the better teams in the Freedom Conference, but his team hung tough. "Eastern is a very good team. They are well coached and well organized, so we have to be pleased with the overall performance," said Miller.
Manhattanville will travel to Wilkes-Barre, Pa. for a Freedom Conference matchup against King's (Pa.) on Saturday at 7:00 pm. Live stats can be found on GoValiants.com.
