Box Score DALLAS, Pa. – The Manhattanville women's volleyball team started its 2013 Freedom Conference schedule on Wednesday night, but the Valiants could not take a set off host Misericordia in falling by a 3-0 (30-28, 25-13, 25-19) score at the Anderson Sports-Health Center.
Freshman
Alissa Primavera (Brewster, N.Y./Brewster) led Manhattanville (7-5, 0-1 Freedom) with a team-best 10 kills, reaching double figures for the sixth time in the last eight matches, and senior
Alyssa Taylor (Craik, Sask./Craik) also performed well with seven kills, three aces and three blocks. Junior
Alyssa Casino (Rye Brook, N.Y./Maria Regina) led all players with 10 digs and junior

Shelby Brochetti paced Misericordia (4-5, 1-0 Freedom) with a match-leading 12 kills on 27 attempts and also was one of three Cougars to dig out a team-best seven balls. Six MU players picked up at least six kills, as the home team posted a .383 hitting percentage with 45 total kills.
The first set was easily the most competitive of the night, as Misericordia needed 30 points to finally put away the pesky Valiant side. The second set did not have such drama, as the Cougars won by a 25-13 score, and the home team was able to close Manhattanville out with a 25-19 third set.
Manhattanville, whose mid-week schedule is all Freedom Conference matches from here on out, will return to non-conference play this weekend with four matches at the Sarah Lawrence Invitational on Saturday and Sunday, beginning with matchups versus Maritime and Sarah Lawrence on Saturday afternoon.
