Trinity's Offensive Outburst Vanquishes the Valiants

Michaela Murdock scored her first collegiate goal on Tuesday
Box Score HARTFORD, Conn. – The Manhattanville women's hockey team suffered its third straight loss on Tuesday evening, falling to Trinity College by a score of 7-2 in a non-conference contest.  Although the first period ended in a 2-2 tie, Trinity was able to pull away by scoring the final five goals of the game.

Freshman forwards Michaela Murdock (Chestnut Ridge, N.Y./Mid-Fairfield Connecticut Stars) and Maddy Seabrook (North Gower, Ontario/Canadian International Hockey Academy) were the goalscorers for the Valiants, with both players notching the first goals of their respective careers in the opening frame. After Emma Tani opened the scoring for Trinity, Murdock potted the first of her career 1:12 later to even the score at one off a feed from junior Rachel Morrison. Seabrook knotted the score again with 1:26 remaining in the middle frame with her first collegiate goal, with the assist credited to classmate Kayley Romano (Viera, Fla./Boston Shamrocks)

With the game tied at one headed into the first intermission, Trinity scored three times in the second period and added two more in the third to close out the contest.

It was a rough night in between the pipes for the Valiants, as all three goaltenders were needed to finish out the game.  The Trinity offense was potent on the evening, tallying seven goals on 31 shots, while the Valiants scored twice on 23 attempts.  Trinity forwards Emma Tani and Lauren Fitzgerald scored two goals apiece to help the Bantams cruise to the victory.

The Valiants will return home, hoping to find their legs on familiar ice, as they take on Holy Cross and Salve Regina this weekend in a pair of pivotal conference games. The puck will drop at Terry Conners Rink in Stamford at 7:30 p.m. on Friday evening.
