PURCHASE, N.Y.- The Manhattanville field hockey team struggled to score against King's (Pa.) on Saturday afternoon, falling to the Monarchs by a final score of 1-0 in Freedom Conference play at GoValiants.com Field.
Sophomore
Meghan Hughes (Kintnersville, Pa./Palisades) was outstanding in net for Manhattanville (3-12, 0-4 Freedom), tallying nine saves on 20 shots from King's (Pa.) (8-7, 2-2 Freedom).
Monarchs' forward Brianna DiMaggio scored the only goal of the game in 29th minute after collecting a pass in front of the net from Anastasia Araviakas, burying it past Hughes.
The Valiants had their opportunities to press offensively, but the Monarchs' defense proved to be too strong. King's (Pa.) goalkeeper Paige Tedik totaled five saves in net, acquiring a shutout for the Monarchs.
