NEW YORK, N.Y.- Led by stellar senior performances from Bri Pabon (Newington, Conn./Newington) and Alyson Caiazzo (Brooklyn, N.Y./St. Saviour), the Manhattanville women's basketball team easily handled Hunter College on Monday night, beating the Hawks by a final score of 75-54 in non-conference play.
 
Pabon scored a game-high 28 points, shooting 10-of-22 from the floor while swiping four steals and dishing out two assists for Manhattanville (4-1). Caiazzo collected her fourth double-double of the season, scoring 22 points while grabbing 13 rebounds in the win over Hunter (2-5). The win for the Valiants caps their fourth straight victory of the season after starting off the year 0-1.
 
For the Hawks, Kristen Markoe and Dimitra Thomopoulus led the way offensively, scoring 23 and 12, respectively. Hunter was able to keep the game close for majority of the first half until the Valiants eventually pulled away.
 
After four lead changes and five ties with the game notched at 24 with six minutes left, Manhattanville started to catch fire. The Valiants erupted on a 14-2 run, taking a 38-26 lead with under a minute left to play in the first. During this run, the Valiants knocked down three trifectas, two coming from junior Ashley Raaf (Rockaway Beach, N.Y./Christ The King) and one from Pabon. Costly Hunter turnovers continued to give the Valiants more looks at the basket, as Manhattanville went into the half up by 13, 40-27.
 
The Valiants started off the second half just how they ended the first by continuing to get good looks inside the paint. Manhattanville jumped out on an 11-4 run to take a 51-31 lead with under 14 minutes remaining. The Hawks tried to chip away at their 20-point deficit, but the Valiants denied any chances of the game coming within single digits. Manhattanville led by as many as 22 points in the second half before taking down Hunter by a final score of 75-54.
