WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - Freshman Alex Lovaas scored the first goal of her collegiate career just 1:52 into the first period, propelling the Williams Ephs to a 3-0 win over the Manhattanville women's hockey team. Williams goaltender Margaret Draper recorded her second consecutive shutout, stopping all 25 shots the Valiants put on goal.
Sophomore Emily Krueger scored her first goal of the season, a power play goal, with exactly one minute remaining in the opening frame. Sophomore defender Hannah Beattie tallied her second goal of the season, beating Manhattanville goaltender Kirsten Shaughnessy (Le Center, Minn./LeSueur-Henderson St. Peter) with 3:36 remaining in the second period.
Draper was perfect on the day, shutting down the Valiants on all six of their power play opportunities. The sophomore goaltender has yet to allow a goal this season. Shaughnessy was solid in goal, again, turning away 25 of the 28 shots she faced.
After scoring six power play goals in the first four games, the Valiants have now gone six-straight games without capitalizing on the man-advantage.
The team has a few weeks off for the holidays and will resume action on Tuesday, January 6, when they host the Stevenson Mustangs to Rye Playland Ice Casino.
