Box Score FROSTBURG, Md. - The Manhattanville men's soccer team continued their impressive start to the season, defeating Frostburg State 1-0, winning the Frostburg State Tournament for the first time in school history. Sophomore
Jordan Daniel (Westhampton, N.Y./Westhampton Beach) could not have picked a better time to score the first goal of his Valiant career, coming in the 63
rd minute off a
Dan Lorandini (Garden City Park, N.Y./New Hyde Park Memorial) corner kick.
The championship game kicked-off at 3:30 p.m. and saw the first 45 minutes pass with neither team recording a shot on goal. Speaking on the tremendous defensive effort, Coach Miller stated "Steve (Singson) really didn't have a legitimate save to make, which speaks volumes for the effort of the 10 players in front of him…"
The Valiants proved to be well conditioned coming on the second day of back-to-back games and got a much needed boost from their bench to help give the starters much-needed rest. Coach Miller applauded the effort, saying "Some of the guys who haven't played much for this team did very well in making an impact off the bench."
Manhattanville and Frostburg State recorded one shot on goal, respectively, the difference being Daniel's well-placed strike off the set piece.
The win now puts the Valiants at 2-0 on the season and gives the team a nice piece of hardware to bring back to campus. The team will now get three days rest before travelling to Glenside, PA to face Arcadia University, Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
