Box Score 2 MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Manhattanville College women's volleyball team split a pair of matches on day one of the Gator Invitational, hosted by Allegheny College on Friday at the Wise Center. After dropping a 3-0 match to Adrian to start the day, the team came right back to post a 3-1 victory over Mount Aloysius to end the first day of the weekend competition.
The Valiants worked hard to end the night with a win over Mount Aloysius, defeating the Mounties by a 3-1 (29-27, 25-12, 22-25, 25-22) score.
Sophomore
Alissa Primavera (Brewster, N.Y./Brewster) posted a match-high 11 kills on 29 attempts followed by Valiant freshman
Kerry Mackey (Smithtown, N.Y./Christ the King) with 10 kills and a .381 hitting percentage to go with a match-high six blocks. Classmate
Meagan Dattoma (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y./Comsewogue) also got it done at the net, registering eight kills with one error as well as four blocks. Sophomore
Megan Quinabo (Pearl City, Hawaii/Kamehameha Schools-Kapalama) had the match's only double-double with 28 assists and 12 digs, a few digs back of senior
Alyssa Casino (Rye Brook, N.Y./Maria Regina) and her team-best 15.
The first match of the weekend did not go quite as well, as the Valiants dropped a 3-0 (25-13, 25-11, 25-17) decision to Adrian.
Manhattanville had trouble generating offense against the Bulldogs, combining for just 17 kills on 100 attempts in the three sets. Junior
Allison Regan (Carmel, N.Y./Carmel) led the team with four kills, followed by three Valiants with three kills apiece. Quinabo assisted on 15 of those 17 kills, while Casino posted a team-best 13 digs as well for the Valiants.
Manhattanville be back in action at the Gator Invitational tomorrow with two more matches, beginning with a 10:00 a.m. meeting with Pitt-Greensburg before closing out the weekend against the host Gators at 2 p.m.
