Box Score POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – It was a tough day on the pitch for the Manhattanville College women's soccer team on Saturday afternoon, as the Valiants dropped a 6-0 contest to Vassar College in non-conference action at Gordon Field.
Kamaria Coley led Vassar (5-2-0) with two goals, while Amanda McFarland added a goal and two assists and Chloe Wheeler had a goal and a helper for the home team as well.
Wheeler got the scoring started early for the Brewers, taking a pass from Sarah Bourenane and finding the back of the net in the sixth minute. Vassar scored twice more in the first half as the home team posted a 13-1 edge in shots.
The second half saw more of the same, with Vassar scoring three more times to complete the scoring. Lucy Brainerd made it a 4-0 game in the 53rd minute, following by back-to-back scores from Coley in the 63rd and 84th minutes.
Vassar finished the match with a 36-2 edge in shots. Sophomore
Dolores Diemicke (North Massapequa, N.Y./Plainedge) came one short of a third double-digit save game this year, finishing with nine stops in 90 minutes for Manhattanville (1-6-0). Emma Nichols and Stephanie Tapolsky split time in goal for the Brewers, with neither keeper needing to make a stop.
The Valiants look to get back in the win column on Wednesday, when the Valiants host SUNY Old Westbury at 4 p.m. at GoValiants.com Field.
