Women's Lacrosse Bottled Up By FDU-Florham in 16-1 Defeat

MADISON, N.J. – The Manhattanville College women's lacrosse team could not get the offense going on Wednesday night, as the Valiants dropped a 16-1 decision to Freedom Conference leader FDU-Florham at Shields Field.

The loss drops Manhattanville (4-8, 1-2 Freedom) into fifth place in the Freedom Conference with three conference contests left on the schedule, a half-game back of Eastern University for the fourth spot. FDU-Florham (11-3, 4-0 Freedom) remains atop the conference standings with its seventh straight win.

FDU's Courtney Rendinaro led all players with five points on three goals and two assists, while teammates Noelle Shirey and Brianna Capobianco added three goals apiece for the Devils.

Freshman AnnaMarie Nardone (Thornwood, N.Y./Westlake) tallied the lone goal of the night for the Valiants. Sophomores Sarah Dalsey (Ocean City, N.J./Ocean City) and Olivia Drew (York, Maine/York) added a game-high three draw controls each for the Valiants as well.

Nardone opened the scoring less than two minutes into the game with her 27th goal of the season, but FDU controlled the subsequent draw and Rendinaro tied the game from the eight-meter arc just over a minute later.

It was all FDU the rest of the way, as the Devils scored the final 15 goals of the game to earn the win.

Sophomore Lauren Cassidy (Oceanside, N.Y./Oceanside) made three saves for Manhattanville and the FDU tandem of Grace Warburton and Nina Andersen also combined for three stops as well. The Devils had a 22-10 edge in shots on the night, including an 8-1 edge in eight-meter attempts.

Manhattanville will look to get back on the right track on Saturday, as the Valiants face off against unbeaten Misericordia University in a very big Freedom Conference matchup at GoValiants.com Field starting at 1 p.m.
