DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – The Manhattanville College women's basketball team was unable to slow down the hot-handed Aggies of Delaware Valley Wednesday evening, dropping a MAC Freedom matchup 80 to 47.
The Aggies (5-9, 1-2 MAC Freedom) found the shooter's touch against Manahattanville (9-4, 1-2 MAC Freedom), shooting 55 percent from the field, well above their 33 percent season average entering the contest. Their 80 points is their highest point total of the season, and doomed the Valiants who struggled from the floor, shooting just 35 percent.
Manhattanville struggled in the early goings, falling behind 14-0 in the first five minutes of the game before a layup from sophomore
Joiada Darnell (St. Albans, N.Y./Humanities and the Arts) got the Valiants on the board. The Aggiest continued to control the pace throughout the first half shooting 65 percent from the field as they took a 21-point lead into the halftime break.
Despite shooting 40 percent in the second half, the Valiants were unable to chip away at the Aggie lead. Senior Ashleey Raaf led Manhattanville on the offensive end, scoring 15 points and dishing out four assists. Junior
Brittany Deieso (Brewster, N.Y./Brewster) was solid off the bench for Manhattanville, handing out a season-high six assists in 19 minutes.
The Valiants will travel to Misericordia University on Saturday to continue their MAC Freedom play. Tip-off for their contest against the Cougars is set for 1:00 P.M.
