Women's Soccer Blanked By Eastern in MAC Freedom Opener

ST. DAVIDS, Pa. – The Manhattanville College women's soccer team started MAC Freedom play on the road on Saturday afternoon, finishing on the wrong side of a 4-0 score against Eastern University at Eagles Field.

Senior Emily Cole was the offensive star for Eastern (6-5-0, 1-0-0 MAC Freedom), scoring three times to lead her team, while Carli Sitkowski also scored for the Eagles.

Eastern took the first shot of the afternoon less than 30 seconds into the match and continued the early pressure, eventually getting Cole's first of the day at the 5:27 mark. Manhattanville (3-6-1, 0-1-0 MAC Freedom) managed only three off-target attempts over the first 45 minutes, while Cole gave her team a two-goal lead in the 37th minute to make the score 2-0 Eastern at the half.

Cole completed her hat trick in the 67th minute and Sitkowski followed in the 78th minute for the Eagles, who finished the match with a 10-5 edge in shots. Senior Dolores Diemicke (North Massapequa, N.Y./Plainedge) made three saves in a losing effort for Manhattanville.

The Valiants will close out the regular season with all MAC Freedom matches the rest of the way, beginning next Saturday when the team hosts Misericordia University at 2:30 p.m. as part of a tripleheader at GoValiants.com Field.
