UNION, N.J. – The Manhattanville Valiants fell to nationally ranked Kean University Wednesday evening 3-0 in the first round of the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament at Kean Alumni Stadium.

Meghan Hughes (Kintnersville, Pa./Palisades) and junior
Kaitlin Halloran (Nesconset, N.Y./Smithtown East) combined to make ten saves on the night but the Cougar offense found the back of the cage three times on 22 shots to come away victorious.
The Cougars took the lead early on, scoring in the fifth minute on a second chance opportunity to give them a 1-0 advantage. Late in the first half Kean doubled the lead with a goal off of a penalty stroke to take a 2-0 lead into the halftime break. In the second half the Cougars put the game out of reach for good, scoring on a reverse sweep in the 55th minute.

Robin Boot (Bedum, Netherlands/H.N. Werkman College) had the only shot attempt of the night for Manhattanville in a game where the offense struggled, being held without a penalty corner for the first time all season.
The Valiant season comes to an end with the loss. On the year Manhattanville showed great signs of growth as a program, reaching the MAC Freedom playoffs for the first time in five seasons, and also earning their most wins since 2013.
