MANSFIELD, Conn. – The Valiants saw their six-game winning streak come to an end Thursday evening, falling to Eastern Connecticut State 15-1.
Freshman
Brennan Black (Tustin, Calif./Tustin) recorded his third hit of the season, and sophomore
Chris Conklin (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Lakeland) and freshman
Luke Scoggins (Merrick, N.Y./Sanford H. Calhoun) had two hits apiece for the Valiants (23-12 overall) who were shorthanded on the night due to exam conflicts.
The Valiants struggled defensively, committing six errors on the night, leading to five unearned Warrior runs. Eastern Connecticut (19-11 overall) broke open the tight game with three runs in the fourth and five runs in the fifth. They added another four in the seventh to put the game out of reach for good.
Freshman
Bryan Borruso (Blaivelt, N.Y./Tappen Zee) was responsible for the lone Valiant run, doubling home Conklin in the top of the fourth.
Freshman
Nick Simmons (Wappingers Falls, N.Y./Roy C. Ketcham) was a bright spot on the mound for Manhattanville Thursday, pitching a scoreless inning of relief, striking out one in his sixth appearance of the season.
The Valiants will look to get back on the winning track tomorrow when they host Eastern University for the opener of a three game stand in their final conference series of the regular season. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 P.M. at Manhattanville Field.
