PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Manhattanville College men's soccer team exploded for four second-half goals to take down Lehman College 5-0 on Wednesday afternoon in their final tune-up before MAC Freedom play begins this weekend.
Five different players scored on Wednesday at GoValiants.com Field, giving Manhattanville (7-3 overall) its fourth consecutive victory. The Valiants controlled the tempo of the game, outshooting Lehman (3-3-3 overall) 21-9, and held a 9-0 advantage in corners.
Four Valiants scored their first goals of the season, including senior
Simon Espinosa (Boca Raton, Fla./Spanish River) and freshmen
Nicolas Capri (Curitiba, Brazil/Montverde Academy),
Ingebreth Mossige (Bryne, Norway/Bryne Videregående Skule) and
Kheenan Chouapi Deumaga (Etterbeek, Belgium/Montverde Academy).
Capri got the scoring started in the first half, finishing off a free kick from senior

Freshman Christian Araujo doubled Manhattanville's lead with a free kick from 30 yards out in the 67th minute that floated over the head of replacement goalkeeper Rafael Emilano, who took over as keeper following a red card to Jesus Marin in the 48th minute.
The Valiants put the game out of reach for good with three goals in 4:56 late in the second half. Mossige started the goal barrage by finishing from the left side of the box on a pass from junior
Jeff Santos (Yonkers, N.Y./Pelham Memorial). Espinosa scored his first goal of the year on a penalty kick after senior
Eddy Garcia (Frederick, Md./Urbana) was taken down inside the box in the 85th minute. Chouapi Deumaga capped off the scoring by flicking a loose ball over Emilano in the 88th minute.
Freshman
Tim Carsting (Falun, Sweden/Soltorgsgymnasiet) made four saves in goal to earn the victory for Manhattanville, as the Valiants outshot the Lightning by a 21-9 margin.
Manhattanville will look to keep the offense alive on Saturday when the Valiants open MAC Freedom play with a huge matchup against defending conference champion Eastern University at 2:30 pm.
