After the two teams played back and forth the entire first half, Deieso nailed a three with 33 seconds to play in the half to give Manhattanville a one-point edge at the halftime break, 30-29. A 10-3 run to begin the second half gave the Valiants an eight-point lead midway through the third quarter. The crimson and black stretched the lead to as many as 11 points behind a Deieso jumper and a layup from junior
Joiada Darnell (St. Albans, N.Y./Humanities and the Arts) taking a 48-37 at the end of the third quarter.
The Cougars opened with seven straight points in the fourth quarter, but Manhattanville responded right back, scoring eight of the next ten points to push the lead back up to double-figures. Misericordia could only get as close as nine points the rest of the way and the Valiants wrapped up the 2016-17 season with a win in their regular season finale for the third consecutive year.
