WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Manhattanville College baseball team was unable to get past King's College in the rubber match of the three-game series Monday afternoon, falling to the Monarchs 3-0 at the Robert L. Betzler Athletic Complex.

Freshman
Matt Galyas (Norwalk, Conn./Brien McMahon) was solid in his third start of the season, tossing six innings, allowing just two runs but was outmatched by Monarch starter Billy Neill who tossed a four-hit shutout. Senior
Robbie Lynch (Bronx, N.Y./Fordham Prep) and sophomore
Luke Scoggins (Merrick, N.Y./Sanford H. Calhoun) recorded the only extra base hits for the Valiants, each recording a double in the loss.

King's plated the first run of the game in the second inning, and added a single run in the fourth and eighth inning. It was all the support that Neill needed, as the Valiants had just three runners in scoring position all day. Despite having all three of those runners advance to third, the Valiants were unable to convert on their chances. Manhattanville's best chance came in the top of the sixth when junior
Danny Gallagher (Nanuet, N.Y./Paramus Catholic) singled on a bunt down the third base line and advanced two bases on a wild pitch. After a fly out, Lynch laced a liner to third base but was snagged nicely by Monarch third baseman Sean Padden to end the threat.

The Valiants are scheduled to return home tomorrow afternoon when they host Western Connecticut State at 4:00 pm. With inclement weather forecasted for Purchase, fans are encouraged to follow the Valiants on twitter (@GoValiants) for schedule updates throughout the day.
