POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Manhattanville College field hockey team dropped a second straight game at the 2017 Betty Richey Tournament, with the Valiants falling to Marywood University by a 5-1 score in the consolation game at Vassar College's Weinberg Field on Saturday afternoon.

Brooke Hadgraft (Sandy Hook, Conn./Newtown) were named to the All-Tournament team.
After nine minutes without a shot, the Pacers took advantage of their first corner opportunity of the match, as Tori Jo Kakusian scored off an insert to give Marywood a 1-0 lead at the 9:06 mark.
Manhattanville fired off five of the game's next six shots in an attempt to score, but Kerri Mountz made three saves to keep her team ahead. Instead the Pacers managed to double their lead in the 29th minute after a flurry of shots, the first two of which were stopped by Halloran but the third one by Gwyneth Gleason got by.
The Valiants nearly got on the board in the 31st minute when a shot from senior
Melissa Stys (Pequannock, N.J./Kent School) was knocked off the line by a Marywood defender, and Marywood turned that into another blitz of shots at the other end, which finished with Kakusian's second of the game via a penalty stroke with six seconds left in the half.
The first half was evenly played despite the score, with Marywood only leading in the shots column by a 13-10 margin. Mountz made seven saves to keep her team ahead and Halloran turned aside six shots.
Marywood controlled play in the second half, holding a 10-1 edge in shots, finishing the game with a 23-11 advantage to go with a 16-2 edge in penalty corners.
Manhattanville will continue its early-season travels next weekend, beginning with a Saturday afternoon matchup at Roger Williams University beginning at 3:30 p.m.
