Men's Hockey Has Unbeaten Streak Snapped at Williams

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The Manhattanville College men's hockey team saw its six-game unbeaten streak come to an end with a 3-1 loss to Williams College in a battle of teams receiving votes in both national polls on Friday night at Lansing Chapman Rink.

Freshman Taylor Bommarito (Sterling Heights, Mich./Charlotte Rush (USPHL)) scored the lone goal of the game for Manhattanville (8-5-3), while David Italiano and Roberto Cellini led Williams (9-4-0) with a goal and an assist each.

Cellini got the Ephs on the board first 7:00 into the first period with his fifth of the season. The goal proved to be the only even-strength tally of the night, as the final three goals of the game came on the man advantage.

Tyler Scott gave Williams a two-goal lead after one period with a power-play goal in the final minute of the opening frame. Italiano cashed in on the home team's fourth man-up chance of the night midway through the second period to give Williams a 3-0 lead headed into the final period.

Manhattanville got one back in the third period on the power play, as Bommarito found the net off a feed from senior co-captain Stephen Gaul (Downers Grove, Ill./Springfield Pics (USPHL)) for his seventh goal of the year. The visitors finished 1-for-4 on the man advantage, while Williams scored twice on six man-up chances.

The Valiants and Ephs both finished the evening with 30 shots. Michael Pinios turned aside 29 shots to earn the win for Williams, while junior Tyler Feaver (Whitby, Ont./Whitby Fury (OJHL)) recorded 27 stops for Manhattanville.

Manhattanville will be back in action tomorrow afternoon, when the Valiants take on Nichols College in the team's non-conference finale beginning at 4:40 p.m.
