Volleyball Closes Out MAC Freedom Play with 3-0 Home Win Over DelVal

PURCHASE, N.Y. -- The Manhattanville College women's volleyball team picked up a much-needed win Wednesday night, Oct. 24, at home in three sets, 3-0 (25-16, 25-17, 25-10). The victory came in the Valiants' Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom final over rival Delaware Valley University.

Manhattanville (8-13, 2-5 MACF) has now won eight straight over the Aggies (4-18, 0-7 MACF) in what was the two squads' final meeting as conference rivals. The Valiants will officially return to the Skyline Conference beginning in the 2019 season.

In her penultimate collegiate match, senior Laura LiVolsi (Washingtonville, NY/Washingtonville) led the Valiants offensively once again. The captain finished as the only player in the match with double-digit kills, notching 12. She added eight digs and three aces. Junior Steph Muller (Port Jervis, N.Y./Port Jervis) finished with the match's second best kill total at nine, adding two aces and two blocks, and did this all while hitting an efficient .500 on 16 swings. Rookie Sarah Camarena (Los Angeles, Calif./Sacred Heart (H.S.)) led all players with 27 assists and added six digs, while sophomore Monica Lopez (Caguas, Puerto Rico/Notre Dame) totaled a match-best 24 digs.

The Valiants will close out the 2018 season this weekend, Saturday afternoon, Oct. 27, when Clarks Summit University comes to Purchase. It is also Senior Day for Manhattanville, and the squad will recognize LiVolsi as its lone graduating team member. LiVolsi currently sits in fifth place all-time at Manhattanville with 701 career kills, ninth in attack percentage (.164) and 10th with 836 points.
