MONTCLAIR, N.J. -- The Manhattanville College women's volleyball team suffered a four-set non-conference loss (25-18, 18-25, 25-14, 25-22) to Montclair State University on the road Friday night, Oct. 5.
The Valiants (7-7) dropped the first set to the Red Hawks (12-5), but stormed back to win the second and even things up. Manhattanville jumped out to a 14-6 lead and forced a MSU timeout, but the Valiants continued to control the pace of play and took a 19-8 lead. They eventually led by 24-14 before taking the set 25-18.
Junior hitter
Austen Brauer (Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y./Hastings)Â had a career night offensively and led all players with a career-best 19 kills on 48 swings to hit .271. Senior hitter
Laura LiVolsi (Washingtonville, NY/Washingtonville)Â also produced, registering yet another double-double with 16 kills and 12 digs, while sophomore libero
Monica Lopez (Caguas, Puerto Rico/Notre Dame) notched a match-high 32 digs. Freshman setter
Sarah Camarena (Los Angeles, Calif./Sacred Heart (H.S.))Â led Manhattanville with 27 assists.
Manhattanville will return to the court and resume Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom play Wednesday night, Oct. 10. The Valiants will host FDU-Florham at Kennedy Gymnasium for a 7:00 p.m. clash.
