PURCHASE, N.Y. — The Manhattanville College men's soccer team had their most dominant performance of the season Wednesday night Sept. 12, as they defeated The College of New Rochelle Blue Angels 10-1 at GoValiants.com Field.
The Valiants (4-1-0) got on the scoreboard early and often, as nine different players registered goals and the team put up the most goals in a game since 2004. Sophomore midfielder
Marius Nicolaysen (Oslo, Norway/Kongshavn VGS) got the scoring started in the fourth minute on a penalty shot, and New Rochelle's (3-2-0) Marcelo Furchi answered two minutes later with the Blue Angels' lone goal on a penalty kick of his own.
Manhattanville followed with two goals in a span of 2:34, first by sophomore midfielder
Pablo Bravo Olle (Barcelona, Spain/LFG Bon Soleil), followed by freshman defender
Jacob Zlobinsky (San Francisco, Calif./Aragon), who scored the first goal of his career to stretch the lead to 3-1. The Valiants continued the scoring, putting two more in the back of the net before the end of the first half. Rookie midfielder
Cody LaCava (New Egypt, N.J./New Egypt) picked up his second goal of the season in the 34th minute following an initial save by Blue Angels goalkeeper Elijah Robinson, and junior midfielder
Cristian Araujo (Miami, Fla./Miami Palmetto) scored the first of his two goals on the night in the 40th minute, putting in a rebound following a blocked shot.
The Valiants kept up the pressure in the second half, starting with Araujo putting home his second goal of the game, and third of the season, to extend the lead to 6-1.
Nico Diaz (Miami, Fla./Miami Palmetto), a freshman midfielder, then tallied his second of the year in the 61st minute on a breakaway, followed by sophomore midfielder
Felipe Gallo (Santos, Brazil/Montverde Academy) putting home his first on the season in the 67th minute. Sophomore forward
Fabori Conde (Fayetteville, N.C./Seventy-First) got in on the scoring action in the 72nd minute with his second of the season, and freshman defender
Brad Bischoff (Manahawkin, N.J./Southern Regional) finished the scoring with his first career goal in the 85th minute on a header off a corner kick from fellow rookie midfielder
Bryan Sierra (Brentwood, N.Y./Saint Anthony's).
Freshman goalkeeper
Charles Roberts (Brown Mills, N.J./Pemberton Township) got the win for the Valiants in goal, stopping five Blue Angel shots and allowing just the one goal on a penalty kick. The Valiants return to action Saturday, Sept. 15 at 1:00 p.m., as they host Drew University in their second home game of the season.
