DALLAS, PA. -- The Manhattanville College field hockey team opened Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom play Saturday afternoon, Sept. 22, on the road at Misericordia College. Despite a stellar effort from rookie goalie
Zoe Fillebrown (Nashua, N.H./Nashua North), who made 10 saves on the day, the Valiants fell to the hosting Cougars 2-0.
Manhattanville (2-6, 0-1 MACF) was able to hold Misericordia (1-7, 1-0 MACF) throughout the first half, despite the Cougars attempting 10 total shots, include five on net. The home team opened up the scoring in the second half in the 58th minute, beating Fillebrown on the breakaway. The Valiants took five shots, including three on net, in the second half, but were unable to break through. Misericordia got one more across in the 61st off a rebound in front of the net.
The Crimson, white and black will return to the field Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 25, for a non-conference road game against Ramapo College in Mahwah, N.J.
