BRONX, N.Y. — The Manhattanville College men's golf team began its fall season Sunday, Sept. 2, at Pelham Bay and Split Rock Golf Course. The Valiants defeated host Yeshiva University by a score of 4-1 in match play.
Two rookies were outstanding in their debuts for Manhattanville —
Reid Robertson (Plano, Texas/Plano West) shot a 71 in his first-ever collegiate round, which ties him for the fifth-best individual round in program history, while
James Carrier (White Plains, N.Y./White Plains) shot a 76 to win his individual round as well. Robertson won his match five-and-three, while Carrier was victorious seven-and-six.
Junior
Rob Andrews (Sheffield, England/Penistone Grammar) and his Yeshiva opponent each shot 82s, but the Valiant was victorious two-up, meaning he was up two holes with just one to play. Fellow junior
Chris Collins (White Plains, N.Y./Archbishop Stepinac) shot a 77 and bested his Maccabee foe five-and-three.

The Valiants return to the course next weekend, Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 8-9, in Newington, Conn. Manhattanville will compete in the Bill Detrick Invitational at the Indian Hill Country Club, hosted by Trinity College (Conn.)
