NEW YORK, N.Y. — The Manhattanville College women's volleyball team suffered its first defeat of the season Wednesday night, Sept. 5, on the road against Hunter College, 3-0 (25-17, 25-20, 25-22).

Laura LiVolsi (Washingtonville, NY/Washingtonville) and junior middle blocker
Steph Muller (Port Jervis, N.Y./Port Jervis) led the Valiants (3-1) with nine kills apiece, as the squad got stronger with each set but was unable to surpass the reigning CUNYAC champion Hawks (3-0). Sophomore libero
Monica Lopez (Caguas, Puerto Rico/Notre Dame) had a match-best 18 digs, while
Rosie DeBellis (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Arlington) led Manhattanville with 12 assists. Freshman setter
Sarah Camarena (Los Angeles, Calif./Sacred Heart (H.S.)) was just behind DeBellis with 10 helpers, while LiVolsi also chipped in 12 digs for the second straight match.
The Valiants will now take a few days off before hosting a tri-match Saturday, Sept. 8. Manhattanville faces Rosemont College at 8:00 a.m., followed by Rutgers University-Newark for a scheduled 10:00 a.m. match. Rosemont and Rutgers-Newark are also schedule to face each other at 12:00 p.m.
