ANNVILLE, PA. – Senior goalie Rose Pijaca (Worcester, Mass./Worcester Academy) of the Manhattanville College women's ice hockey team was selected as the Defensive Player of the Week by the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC), announced today, Jan. 14.

The Valiants' starting netminder posted four solid performances last week in United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) play and boasted a 1.55 goals against average and a .951 save percentage. Pijaca began with 32 saves in a 2-1 win at Utica College Tuesday, Jan. 8. She followed that up with 21 saves the next day in a tough 2-0 loss to the Pioneers. Then, in a pair of tight losses at home to No. 1/3 Elmira College Friday and Saturday, Jan. 11 and 12, Pijaca combined to make 44 saves and allowed just three goals to one of the top teams in all of Division III.

This is Pijaca's second MAC weekly honor of the season, and fifth of her career.

She and the rest of the Valiants will return to the ice tomorrow night, Tuesday, Jan. 15, when they host Trinity College for a 7:00 p.m. non-conference battle at Playland Ice Casino in Rye, N.Y. Follow all the action live at govaliants.com/live.
