BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The Manhattanville College women's volleyball team picked up its ninth consecutive victory Tuesday night, Oct. 29, to improve to 10-0 in Skyline Conference play with a straight-set victory (25-9, 25-15, 25-14) on the road over St. Joseph's College-Brooklyn.
The Valiants (21-5, 10-0 Skyline) started out fast against the Bears (7-12, 4-6 Skyline) and dominated the first set of play by 16 points and go up 1-0 early before winning the final two sets by 10 and 11 points, respectively, to win in three.
Offensively, the Crimson and White were led by senior outside hitter
Austen Brauer (Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y./Hastings), who notched a match-high 13 kills to go with five digs and an ace. Rookie setter
Vianca Vital (Carolina, Puerto Rico/Perpetuo Socorro) dominated the ball once again and finished with her 18th double-double of the season, leading all players with 34 assists to go with 16 digs, an ace and was just four kills shy of the triple double with six on 10 swings and just one error (.500). Geena Torres (Middletown, N.Y./Pine Bush) led all players with a match-best 19 digs to go with a match-high four aces and a pair of assists.

One win shy of tying their season-high winning streak, the Valiants return to action for their regular-season finale on Senior Night this Thursday, Oct. 31, when they face St. Joseph's College-Long Island at home in Purchase, N.Y., in Kennedy Gymnasium. Manhattanville leads the Golden Eagles 9-8 in the all-time series and have won the last four meetings, including a straight-set win at home last season. The Crimson and White have already locked in a first-round bye for the upcoming Skyline tournament and will look to cement their standing as the No. 1 overall seed with another victory.
