Davis' Hat Trick Leads Men's Soccer Over St. Joseph's-Brooklyn

BROOKLYN, N.Y. -- The Manhattanville College men's soccer team extended their unbeaten streak to six games after a 9-1 win over St. Joseph's College-Brooklyn on Saturday, Oct. 5. The game was highlighted by a hat trick from sophomore midfielder Kendall Davis (Bound Brook, N.J./Immaculata)

The Valiants started the game slowly and fell behind by one after St. Joseph's (3-8-1, 1-3 Skyline) Mohamed Ndiaye Jr. notched a goal in 11th minute. Manhattanville (6-2-2, 3-0-1 Skyline) responded quickly and two goals from Davis, one in the 15th minute assisted by junior midfielder Alex Juma (Harlem, N.Y./NYC iSchool) and another in the 21st minute put the Valiants up 2-1.

The attack did not let up and Manhattanville saw the third goal come 15 seconds after the second when sophomore midfielder Cody LaCava (New Egypt, N.J./New Egypt) found the back of the net. Davis completed his hat trick in the 28th minute to put his team up 4-1. The Valiants saw one more goal before half when sophomore midfielder Nico Diaz (Miami, Fla./Miami Palmetto) scored on a goal assisted by junior midfielder Pablo Bravo Olle (Barcelona, Spain/LFG Bon Soleil) to make the score 5-1 after 45 minutes of play.

The Crimson and White continued to put their offensive ability on display in the second half. Junior forward Fabori Conde (Conakry, Guinea/Seventy-First) opened the period with two-straight goals. One in the 63rd minute assisted by junior midfielder Xavier Cruzata (Pasadena, Calif./Cathedral) and another in the 68th minute assisted by Diaz. Manhattanville closed out the scoring with two unassisted goals. Diaz scored his second of the afternoon in the 72nd minute and sophomore midfielder Dan Lombardo (Shirley, N.Y./William Floyd) found the back of the net for his first goal of the season in the 78th minute.

The victory kept the Valiants undefeated in conference play and will move the team into fourth place in the conference standings. Manhattanville resumes play with another Skyline matchup against the College of Mount St. Vincent at home on Wednesday, Oct. 9, starting at 7:00 P.M. on GoValiants.com Field.
