THROGGS NECK, N.Y. – The Manhattanville College men's lacrosse team outscored Maritime College 3-1 in fourth quarter, but it wasn't enough as the Valiants were defeated on the road by the Privateers Saturday afternoon, March 23, by a score of 16-13.
Manhattanville (4-2) took the early 2-0 lead just over two minutes into the first quarter thanks to goals from junior
Gianni Ciffone (Briarcliff Manor, N.Y./Archbishop Stepinac) and rookie
Nick Lambiase (Irvington, N.Y./Irvington), but Maritime (5-2) scored the next three to take a 3-2 lead. Junior
Nick Delia (New City, N.Y./Clarkstown South) scored in the final two minutes of the quarter, however, to tie it at 3-3 before the Privateers snuck one in with 39 seconds left before the end of the quarter.
Maritime outscored the Valiants 5-3 in the second quarter and took a 9-6 lead into halftime. Ciffone scored twice in the second quarter, and Lambiase scored his second of the game. The third quarter was much like the second, with the Privateers outscoring Manhattanville 6-4 and maintaining the two-goal lead.

Delia scored his second to make it 11-9 at 7:02 before Maritime scored four straight to make it 14-9. Duval scored his second at 2:17 in the third to trim it back to 14-10 before the Privateers once again scored in the final minute to make it a five-goal game.
Neither team scored in nearly the first 10:00 of play in the fourth until Manhattanville rookie
Harrison Yoguez (Trumbull, Conn./St. Joseph (H.S.)) scored his first of the game in a man-up situation to make it 15-11. Trailing 16-11 with less than two minutes remaining, Ciffone and Yoguez each scored again and the Valiants trailed by three at 16-13, but were unable to complete the comeback attempt against their future Skyline Conference foe.
