MAHWAH, N.J. — The Manhattanville College men's tennis team suffered a tough defeat, dropping a 9-0 decision to Ramapo College Wednesday, March 27.
The loss ends the Valiants' (2-5) win streak, who came away with victories over Bard College and Lehman College in their previous two matches.
In first doubles, junior
Juan Huertas (Bogotá, Colombia/La Salle (H.S.) (Calif.)) and sophomore
Jan Senkerik (Zlin, Czech Republic/The Hill Academy) were defeated 8-6, followed by freshman
Alvaro de la Plaza (Malaga, Spain/Homeschooled (Laurel Springs, Calif.)) and freshman
Nick Schlapak (Dover, N.H./Dover) falling by the same score in second doubles. Freshman
Dylan Crowley (Pelham, N.Y./Pelham Memorial) and sophomore
Maguire Balke (Yardville, N.J./Steinert) closed out doubles action with an 8-5 loss.
Huertas then fell 7-5, 6-3 in first singles, followed by de la Plaza losing in straight sets as well. Senkerik dropped a three-set contest (4-6, 6-2, 4-10) before freshman
Dylan Mund (Washington Township, N.J./Westwood Regional) fell in straight sets. Crowley then dropped a three-set match (2-6, 6-1, 4-10) before Balke fell in straight sets to end the day for Manhattanville.
The Valiants return to action Saturday, March 30, when they host King's College (Pa.) at the Manhattanville Tennis Courts, with matches scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m.
