MAHWAH, N.J. — The Manhattanville College women's tennis team dropped a close 5-4 decision to Ramapo College Wednesday, March 27.
The Valiants (1-2) started off the day with senior
Lizza Gonzalez (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic/The Ashton School) and freshman
Renay Charley (Redondo Beach, Calif./Redondo Union) picking up an 8-2 win in first doubles. Junior
Izzy Lovejoy (Madison, Conn./Forman School) and freshman
Samantha Altman (Carmel, N.Y./Carmel) followed that up with an 8-1 loss, and sophomore
Sunny Tonnesen (Oslo, Norway/EF Academy) and Catherine Williamson fell 8-5 in third doubles.
Gonzalez fell in straight sets in first singles, followed by Charley picking up a 6-1, 6-1 victory in second singles. Lovejoy then fell in straight sets before Altman came away with a victory in fourth singles action (6-3, 6-0). Tonnesen picked up a 6-0, 6-1 victory in fifth singles, but Williamson dropped a 4-6, 7-5 decision in sixth singles action.
The Valiants return to action Saturday, March 30, when the team hosts King's College (Pa.) at the Manhattanville Tennis Courts at 1:00 p.m.
