PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Manhattanville College men's tennis team picked up a monumental victory Saturday afternoon, March 9, as the Valiants defeated Lehman College 9-0 at the Manhattanville Tennis Court. The win was the first for the program in a dual match since it was reinstated.

Manhattanville (1-4) began with two 8-0 victories in doubles play, as rookie Alvaro de la Plaza (Malaga, Spain/Homeschooled (Laurel Springs, Calif.)) and Nick Schlapak (Dover, N.H./Dover) dominated at first doubles, followed by juniors Juan Huertas (Bogotá, Colombia/La Salle (H.S.) Up 3-0 heading into singles, freshman Dylan Crowley (Pelham, N.Y./Pelham Memorial) kicked it off with a 6-0, 6-0, straight set win at fifth singles. De la Plaza came next with a straight-set shutout win as well to clinch the match and give the Valiants the 5-0 lead. Schlapak was the next Manhattanville player to close out his match, winning at fourth singles 6-1, 6-0. The last Valiant to finish was at first singles with Huertas, as the junior won 6-3, 6-0. Lehman also defaulted at sixth singles.
