PURCHASE, NY – The Manhattanville College baseball team put together its second straight 19-6 non-conference victory, this time over the College of Mount Saint Vincent Dolphins Wednesday April 17 from Manhattanville Field.
The Valiants tore through the Lehman College Lightning by the same 19-6 score Tuesday April 16.
Senior
Luke Scoggins (Merrick, N.Y./Sanford H. Calhoun) went 4-for-6 with seven RBI's for Manhattanville (17-13), matching the output from freshman
Zachary Feinstein (Stamford, Conn./Westhill) in the win over the Lightning Tuesday. Freshman
Anthony Quatrochi (Fishkill, N.Y./Our Lady of Lourdes) went 3-for-5 with three RBI's, scoring each of his five times on base. Senior Matt Colemen, starting at second base for the first time in his collegiate career, went 2-for-5 with three runs scored and an RBI – matching the stat line put up by freshman
Johnny Mariano (Eastchester, N.Y./Eastchester). Fellow senior
Michael Poggioreale (Thornwood, N.Y./Westlake) went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and sophomore
Hathaway Roper (Stratford, Conn./Bunnell) went 3-for-5 with an RBI for the Valiants.
On the mound, junior

Batting as the visitors, the Valiants scored once in the first, three times in the second, and three times in the third, holding a 7-3 lead through seven innings. Quatrochi scored three of the first seven runs, driving in one as well.
With one out in the top of the eighth, junior
Joseph Silvestri (Bronx, N.Y./Archbishop Stepinac) and Mariano hit back-to-back singles and Coleman and Quatrochi both followed with walks with Silvestri forced home on Quatrochi's free pass. With the bases still loaded, Scoggins doubled to center field, clearing the bases, putting the Valiants up 11-3.
After a single by freshman
Tyler Viscusi (Wappingers Falls, N.Y./Roy C. Ketcham) and a fly out, sophomore
Matthew Careccia (Bronx, N.Y./Archbishop Stepinac) singled, scoring Scoggins. After Poggioreale was hit by a pitch, Silvestri walked, forcing home sophomore pinch-runner
Matt Tuite (Shrub Oak, N.Y./Lakeland). After Mariano was hit by a pitch, forcing home Careccia, Coleman reached on an error, scoring Poggioreale.
After Quatrochi followed with a Silvestri-scoring-single, Scoggins delivered his second three-run double of the inning, making it 19-3. In all, the Valiants scored 12 runs and sent 16 men to the plate in the inning. The Dolphins tacked on one in the bottom of the eighth and two in the bottom of the ninth, but the Valiants cruised to their sixth 10+ run win of the season.
