WILKES-BARRE, PA. – The Manhattanville College men's lacrosse team closed out its 2019 season with a tough 12-7 loss at Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom rival King's College (Pa.) Saturday afternoon, April 27.
The Valiants (7-8, 2-5 MACF) kept up with the Monarchs (4-11, 2-5 MACF) for most of the first quarter, as the two squads traded goals to the turn of a 3-3 tie with just over 2:00 remaining until the second before King's scored with 00:10 left to take a 4-3 lead. That tally started a four-goal run for the hosting Monarchs, as they started the second quarter with three straight and jumped ahead 7-3.
Junior
Nick Delia (New City, N.Y./Clarkstown South) scored his 25th of the season with 1:06 remaining in the first half to bring Manhattanville back to within three at 7-4, and that's the way it would stay until nearly 4:00 into the third quarter when fellow junior
T.J. Caccavo (Carlsbad, Calif./San Marcos) scored his 21st to trim the gap to just two at 7-5. The Monarchs scored once in the quarter at 4:30 to make it 8-5, but the Valiants closed out the third with a goal from rookie
Harrison Yoguez (Trumbull, Conn./St. Joseph (H.S.)) – his 19th – to make it 8-6 heading into the fourth.
Freshman
Matt LaBash (Stratford, Conn./St. Joseph (H.S.)) began the game's final quarter with his 10th goal of the season at 13:14 and Manhattanville was back within one goal at 8-7. Unfortunately, King's closed out the game on a 4-0 run to come away with the five-score victory.
