Box Score BRUNSWICK, MAINE – The Manhattanville College women's hockey team opened the second half of their season with a 3-2 loss to Williams College on Thursday, Jan. 2. The Ephs tallied the game winning goal with just 1:26 remaining in the third period to hand the Valiants their fourth loss of the season.
Manhattanville (6-4-1, 5-0 UCHC) battled back from a 2-0 deficit early in the game. The action picked up late in the third period when senior forward Maisey Kettlewood (Nottingham, N.H./Dover) found the back of the net on a goal assisted by junior forward Taylor Ham (Saugerties, N.Y./Millbrook School) with 5:39 remaining to tie the game. Williams (5-4, 2-2 NESCAC) netted their game winner and killed the Valiants' momentum just four minutes later when Amanda Reisman rattled a shot of the crossbar and into the net for her second of the game.
The Valiants struggled to keep off the Eph offensive pressure for majority of the game. The efforts of senior goalie Taylor Elias (Winnipeg, Man./Canadian International Hockey Academy) kept the team in the game. She made 42 on 45 shots in an impressive performance. The Crimson and White also converted on the powerplay when senior defender Ali Howard (Rye, N.Y./Rye) scored off an assist from junior forward Tianna Lopes (West Vancouver, British Columbia/Pacific Steelers (JWHL)).
Manhattanville returns to action tomorrow, Friday, Jan. 3, once again at Sidney J. Watson Arena in Brunswick, Maine. The team will take on Bowdoin College for a 7 P.M. puck drop.
