Box Score MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – Following nearly a month off, the Manhattanville College men's hockey team returned to the ice for its first game of 2020 – a first round contest in the Middlebury Holiday Classic – but suffered a tough 6-1 loss to Babson College on neutral ice.
The Valiants (5-7-1) fell behind early to the Beavers (8-3-1) just under five minutes into the first, but were able to get one back at 14:18 into the period. Rookie
Glynn Robitaille (Northville, Mich./Detroit Catholic Central) took a pass from co-captain junior
Tristan Ramage (Pittsburgh, Pa./Pittsburgh Central Catholic) and assistant captain senior
Joel Knight (Stoney Creak, Ont./Orchard Park Secondary School) and snuck it in from a bad angle to make it a 2-1 game.
Unfortunately, Babson scored the next four unanswered to take the game. For the Valiants, Robitaille now has five goals on the season. Assistant captain senior
Ken McLean (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle) took three shots and dominated the face-off circle for Manhattanville, winning 15-of-21 at the dot. Junior netminder
Mac Vail (East Elmhurst, N.Y./Baccalaureate School for Global Education) started and made 18 stops between the pipes, while sophomore
Reid Robertson (Plano, Texas/Plano West) made six saves and did not allow a goal in just over 12:00 minutes of relief in the third period.
The Crimson and White return to action for the Holiday Classic consolation game tomorrow afternoon, Saturday, Jan. 4, at 2:00 p.m., against Middlebury College. The hosting Panthers fell to Saint Michael's College 4-3 earlier in the day today. This will be just the second meeting between Manhattanville and Middlebury, and the first since the Panthers defeated the Valiants 3-2 in the 2006-07 NCAA Quarterfinals.
